Water featured on WAMU’s Art Beat

Thanks to WAMU 88.5 and Sean Rameswaram for featuring our current contemporary show, Water, on their programing. For all our out-of-town or radio-less followers, you can listen to the quick ArtBeat post here:

WAMU Art Beat with Sean Rameswaram, August 26, 2012

The show’s last day is this Saturday, September 15th. Some of the prints included in Water are still available for purchase, so we encourage everyone to stop by and see the prints in person before the show ends and the prints come down.  Our Saturday hours are 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Washington Post Review of Water

We were thrilled to open up today’s Washington Post and see a very complimentary review of our current contemporary show, Water. The article, penned by Post writer Mark Jenkins, was featured on the back page (c8) of the Style section. Local printmaker Philip Bennet’s monotype Splash was situated to the side of the article, offering a striking accompaniment to Jenkins’ comments.

We have uploaded a scan of the article, but you can also read the article online on the Washington Post’s website ( link here). We encourage all of our blog readers to stop by the gallery before the show ends (September 14th) to experience the show in person.

P.S.-We have normal hours this weekend, despite the Labor Day Holiday. We will be open tomorrow (Saturday, September 1st) from 10am to 5:30pm, and we will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Georgetown Art Walk

Did you see the Old Print Gallery mentioned in August’s Georgetowner? If not, check out their great Georgetown Art Walk map, featured below, and carve some time out this week (or weekend) to visit the galleries listed.

And thanks to Ari Post and the Georgetowner for selecting us! We are flattered and very happy to have our show Water included alongside such interesting exhibits.

Water Opening Reception- Photos

Hello and happy Saturday. Today we have a quick post, sharing some photos of Water’s opening reception. The reception was held at the gallery on Friday, July 20th, from 5 to 8pm. The turnout was great- one of our best attended openings since we began offering contemporary prints. Gallery friends, regulars, and collectors stopped by to view the show, and we welcomed many new faces- some who had read about the show in the local papers, and others who saw the crowd inside the gallery and decided to check it out for themselves.

The conversation surrounding the art was stimulating, and the show very well received. With Water, we were excited to introduce new artists, like Peter Milton and Clare Romano, to the gallery walls, as well as promote some of our local DC printmakers. We would like to thank all of our visitors for stopping by that night, and we hope to see them again for the opening of our September show, Su-Li Hung and Richard Sloat: 40 Years Together in Art, which opens on September 21.

And a very special thanks to Pfc. Brandon Groom, for his great photographic coverage of the event, and for allowing us to share his images here on the blog.
