“New Prints by Jake Muirhead” in the News

Josephine with Apple Core by Jake Muirhead. Etching and aquatint, 2009.

Our current show, New Prints by Jake Muirhead, is up one more week, until January 23rd. Featuring incredibly intimate and detailed etchings of still lifes and imagined landscapes, Muirhead’s show has received great praise and attention. The Washington Post’s writer Jenkins wrote of Jake’s work, “showing an object that’s emerging from pictorial chaos is a classic technique, but Muirhead’s mastery makes it feel new.” And writer Ari Post, from The Georgetowner, wrote Muirhead’s prints, “are captivating and elusive, like sensory memories, leaving the audience contemplating a strong and immediate intimacy with the works”.

We here at the gallery could not be more grateful or pleased with the positive response to New Prints by Jake Muirhead. If you are local to the DC area, make sure to stop by before the show ends and see the collection. Some of Muirhead’s prints will continue to be available after the show ends, although not all, so don’t miss your chance to own a print by one of the fixtures in the DC printmaking community. Serious collectors might also want consider purchasing Muirhead’s portfolio, which consists of five hand-pulled prints, contained within a gorgeous linen-bound book.
