Hello blog readers! We are having a VERY busy 2011- lots of things in the works- and we thought we would update you on some of the exciting changes, new deals and shows, and upcoming events.
1. We have changed our HOURS of operation.
We are no longer open on Mondays. We have also extended our hours to 5:30pm, in hopes to make ourselves more accessible for our working and busy clients. Our new hours are: Tuesday- Saturday , from 10am to 5:30. Stop by and say hello!
2. OPG’s 2011 New Years Resolution: MORE GALLERY SHOWS!
We had our first show in the fall of 2010, and have since become part of the Georgetown Gallery Gaze. GGG has a fantastic “Third Fridays” program- every third Friday of the month, all of the Georgetown galleries are open late and host new shows and receptions. Free gallery shows, flowing wine, and great conversation- we can’t think of a better way to start the weekend. It is a fantastic way to get to familiarize yourself with the galleries in Georgetown and to meet other art lovers. For more information on Georgetown Gallery Gaze, check out their website.
To keep the new shows coming, we have worked hard to create a great lineup of gallery shows for you.
We started off 2011 with Winter’s Tenor– a show of contemporary and 20th century artists- which is still up in the gallery until February 12th. Artists featured include Rockwell Kent, Robert Kipniss, Richard Florsheim, Emily Trueblood, and many more. It only has one more week, so make a note to come see it before the gallery walls change.
Our next show is something we are VERY excited about- new works by Art Werger. This show, entitled Moments in Mezzotint feature Werger’s exploration of our shared human experience.
We have an free opening reception for the show on Friday, February 18, 2011- from 5pm to 8pm. Art Werger will be there to explain his process, discuss his inspiration for the new works, and field any questions you have about his art. Do not pass up this great experience to meet such a talented artist. We will have a new blog post the week of the event with information on Werger and on the works featured in the show. Make sure to check the blog that week to get all the details!
During the spring, we will have a show by local artist Susan Goldman. Her works are always bursting with color and energy and life- quite fitting for spring. Susan will also do a free printing demonstration in the gallery– open to all. It will be a great way to deepen your understanding of the printmaking process, and to learn a few tricks yourself. More details to follow soon.
3. A NEW Framing Deal!!!
The Old Print Gallery has always done custom framing- using conservation-appropriate materials and techniques as well as paying attention to visual appeal. And we know framing can get expensive and can easily be put off, leaving you with a pile of art in your apartment’s corner, just waiting for a frame and permanent place on your wall. We want to make sure you appreciate your art and get it up on your wall as soon as possible. So, we are offering this framing deal to all customers:
If you buy a print at the Old Print Gallery and order framing for it THAT DAY, we will give you 20% off the total framing costs.
Do not miss out on this opportunity. For more information about our framing services, click here .
4. More Ways to Stay in Contact With The Old Print Gallery
The Old Print Gallery has moved into the digital age and embraced social media. With so many great features, we would be crazy not to take advantage of all the internet has to offer. We want to promote our gallery and shows, stay in better contact with our customers and gallery friends, and share our knowledge on prints, maps, and the art world.
We have started a blog to share our knowledge about our prints and maps. We post at least once a week- and try to keep it varied- to show all that the gallery has to offer. We also added widgets to the bottom of every post, where you can share the post on your Facebook page, Twitter account, Reddit, StumbleUpon, and the like. You can also subscribe to our blog or add us to your Google blog reader.
We also have a new Facebook page – just search for Old Print Gallery on Facebook and we pop up ( or click here) . Facebook has been a great way to keep our followers updated on new shows, opening events and receptions, and our new deals. We also would love to use it to get in contact with local printmakers. Make sure to “friend” us and spread the word to fellow art-lovers and artists. We wanna build a big online community of printmakers, and map aficionados!
And last but not least, we are always adding new customers to our email list and mailing lists. We send out emails that remind everyone of our shows and specials. Email us with your information at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to be added to our email list or our mailing list.
That wraps it up for today’s post. I hope you are as excited about the changes and upcoming events as we are!
